Holiday cabin on an island by Lake Saimaa – Fisherman's Hut 2
Welcome to enjoy the the crystal-clear waters! Fisherman’s Huts 1 and 2 are cosy and well-equipped two-bedroom cottages on the shores of Lake Saimaa on Lapinsalo Island in Savitaipale.
The island is an easy five-minute boat ride away. The journey begins at the boat harbour car park (Kolhoniementie 45, Savitaipale), from where we will always personally escort you by boat to the island. We’ll show you how to use the boat and help you carry your luggage. A motorboat and life jackets are included in the price of the cottage.

Saunas of these Huts are wood-heated, and it takes about 45 min to heat them.
The evening sun shines beautifully across Lake Saimaa onto the windows of the barbecue hut and the living room, as well as onto the terrace. In addition to the barbecue hut, the cottage has a good-sized gas barbecue. Gas and firewood are always included in the price.
The cottages are ideal for fishing enthusiasts, but also for anyone who appreciates the exotic charm of a holiday on an island and enjoys getting about by boat. We can arrange local fishing licences on your behalf if required, and we can also help you obtain personal licences.
Nearby, there is a fortress with sheep and a hiking trail with a shelter. A restaurant, pizzeria and boat fuel station are a 10-minute boat ride away, and Lappeenranta’s Sand Castle is a 45-minute drive away.
The cottage has been designed with sustainability and eco-friendliness in mind; for example, there are several bins for waste and a compost bin for food scraps. Inside the cottage, there is an easy-to-use, odourless Separett toilet, as well as a Biolan composting outdoor toilet.
The cottage has its own well, so amenities such as drinking water, a dishwasher and a shower ensure a hassle-free holiday.
The Fisherman’s Huts are identical and are situated 60 metres apart. They are positioned so that both cottages enjoy their own peace and quiet. The pair of cottages is also an excellent option for larger groups (max. 12 people).
Both cottages have a rocky shore, typical of Lake Saimaa, so it's easier if you have some experience of using an outboard motor. However, a lot of people have learned how to drive a boat here, so no worries! The price of the cottage includes a motorboat, and we’ll provide guidance and assistance on how to use it. The boat trip to the island is short; you can even see the cottage from the car park.
Pets are welcome at Fisherman's Huts.
Instructions and booking terms
From Midsummer week until the end of August, the minimum rental period is 1 week. Changeover day is Saturday, with arrival after 4 pm and departure by 12 noon. Please read the instructions for boat hire.
